As a writer, I create, analyze, and promote work that reveals the invisible matrices of oppression and represents them for others through language and spectacle. In particular I aim to document the collaborations between white women and women of color on plays about race. Read more about my research here.

Read about my class Reconstructing History and a performance technique that decodes the play as a historical document, examining not only the text but also the circumstances of the original productions – playing space, audience, politics, and performance style – and uses that framework to examine parallel phenomenon in our own culture. The technique does not deconstruct, it reconstructs the original ideas using contemporary materials.
